The Sugar Wharf…Port Douglas. for many years the sugar industry sent there crops out from here to cairns and beyond. Today visitors to the area pass by daily on there way to the Great Barrier Reef just a few miles off the coast.


These far northern beaches are often deserted through simply lack of population and of coarse the constant presence of Salt Water Crocks.


Turning inland away from the Mangroves is the Daintree Rainforest, reputed to be the oldest rainforest on earth and plants going back to Gonnwanna.
